Welcome to Pewsey & District Angling Association

A Growing Club...

OVER 100 YEARS OF ANGLING

Welcome to the website for Pewsey & District Angling Association.            August 2025

What an amazing start to the season the club has had.

Welcome to all our members and non-members. It is with great pride that the PDAA can announce a rise in membership, both Senior and Junior, a rise in attendance for both lake and canal club matches and a real feel of togetherness now that members, both new and old, are coming forward to help with the work needed to keep both the lake and canal in good shape.

I have only been with the PDAA a few years and the changes that have begun to take place in the last year or so has the club once again becoming something we can all be proud of.

The club has a long history of being both a great pleasure club as well as a match fishing club that was the envy of many.

We are beginning the long road back to being a club that when anglers talk about the Kennet and Avon Canal the PDAA is one of the first clubs they think of.

We have a really good Committee with everyone taking part in discussions and decision making. Meeting on a monthly basis and now having the Committee Whatsapp group means any urgent matters or ideas etc. can be dealt with and if the need arises items can  be discussed in an open forum before being added to the agenda at the next available meeting.

With our hard working Match Secretaries the canal and lake club championship is thriving.

We also were proud to once again host a qualifier for the Canal & Rivers Trust Pairs and recently we held a qualifier for the Colmic King of Clubs Competition. These events would not have been possible without the dedication of the organisers and the willing help form many of our members.

Hopefully we can continue to grow and attract more anglers of all ages to ensure the club has a great future.

We would just like to remind everyone that the 2025/2026 Permit are available from Wootons, 5 North Street, Pewsey and the Membership Secretary (see below).

After many years of being great freinds and ambassadors for the club, Hills Tackle have gone into retirement. The club would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and wish them all good luck for the future.

A new tackle shop is open in Amesbury and will slowly be building up their stock of angling products and bait. You will be able to get Full Membership and Day Tickets from Nick at Amesbury Autocare, Flower Street, Amesbury (Tel: 01980 622882)

They are also available from Challis Tackle in Andover.

Day tickets are available from the Spar Shop in Pewsey.

Persons buying annual membership or day tickets should check the match fixture calendar provided to ensure availability of the clubs waters.

Please ensure you have a valid Rod Licence, easily obtainable online and carry it with you when ever you are fishing. This is YOUR responsibility and the club will support the Environmental Agency in every way it can to ensure all our members and day ticket anglers have the required Licence.

You will be asked and if there is no valid Rod Licence shown you will be unable to continue fishing.

A Word From Our President

Over one hundred years old and still going strong. We pride ourselves on being a friendly well run club that caters for match anglers, pleasure anglers and those who have little or no experience.

We have over three miles of prime fishing on The Kennet & Avon Canal which rewards those willing to put the time in to get to know the various stretches.

Great bream catches, along with some cracking winter roach fishing, and perch, rudd, skimmers, tench, carp & pike all combine to give some excellent fishing year round.

Our club lake at Sharcott is a great mixed fishery, ideal for both the beginner and the more experienced angler.

Throughout the year the lake produces some great sport with mirror & common carp to mid doubles, roach, bream, rudd, skimmers, perch and a few chub.

Regular club matches are held on both the canal and lake and bookings can be made with the relevant match organiser.

We are always open to new members and we look forward to welcoming you soon.
